The Philip R Haire AWAKE Children’s Advocacy Center

Serving the children of Jackson County

Phil and Connie Haire, community and regional leaders and benefactors of AWAKE

In January of 2022, Phillip R Haire “Phil” graciously donated AWAKE’s forever home at 20 Colonial Square in Sylva. Phil had rented the space to AWAKE for several years, and we started a capital campaign to make it ours at the end of the five-year lease. Phil then unexpectedly donated the house to AWAKE. We were then able to utilize funds raised to renovate the building and give it an even more welcoming look. We are so grateful to Phil and his generosity will never be forgotten.

Swain County Location

AWAKE opened up a second location in Bryson City, NC in the fall of 2023. We are located within the Swain County Family Resource Center. We are so thankful to Swain County for helping us procure this location, and helping us to serve Swain County’s children where they live. Visits at the Swain location are currently by appointment only.

Therapy Location, Dillsboro

Therapy is conducted in Dillsboro at a rented location outside of the Advocacy Center space, but only about 1.5 miles away. Families have the option to be seen at the various mental health agencies, or to be seen at the AWAKE Center in Dillsboro.
