Our Outreach to the Community
Children’s Advocacy Centers play an important educational role in their communities. Since our founding, AWAKE has consistently offered programs that help children and adults understand, recognize and respond to child abuse.
Puppet Shows
AWAKE performs a puppet show for all Kindergarten and Second Graders in Jackson County each year to teach children about their bodies and their rights. Each year children come forward about abuse as a result of the education the puppet shows provide. In fact, one child who was sexually abused for years, only came forward after watching the puppet show. This show gives children a first step to move from abuse to healing.
Specialized training
AWAKE is happy to meet with your group or organization and come up with tailored training to meet your specific needs. The more we educate our community about child abuse, the less shame victims feel.
Darkness to Light-
Stewards of Children®
Darkness to Light’s flagship program, teaches adults how to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.
AWAKE has multiple authorized facilitators who can come out to your agency or group and help strengthen your organizations prevention and response to child sexual abuse. We believe it is our job as adults to protect children, and this training is a great first step.
